Churches across the Diocese of York are invited to nominate children’s, youth, and family workers for RECOGNISE 2026, a Church of England initiative celebrating the people who help children, young people, and families grow in faith.
RECOGNISE Week, taking place from 6 to 12 July 2026, shines a light on the people who serve children, young people, and families in churches across the country.
Launched in 2025 by the national 30K Project, the initiative is part of the Church of England’s wider vision to raise up 30,000 new children and youth ministers, both voluntary and employed, by 2030.
Churches are encouraged to recognise the people whose ministry makes such a difference in local communities. This includes children’s group leaders, crèche volunteers, baby and toddler group leaders, youth leaders and volunteers, and family workers.
A diocesan panel will review parish nominations and select one nominee from each archdeaconry to go forward for national recognition at an event at Bishopthorpe Palace on Monday 6 July.
Churches can also get involved in Recognise Week in other ways, from hosting a celebration event to sharing a special thank-you video on social media.

A message from YFC
Summer Camp Appeal 2026
Being part of the family of God
For 2026 YFC will be running ‘the Getaway’ – a week long residential based at the Peak Centre, a Christian outdoor venue in the Peak District. We will be taking on the majority of running the camp, catering and organising everything! It is a big undertaking for us but we really are excited for all we have planned.
We want to run a week where we build on the family feel of our groups and enable local children to take part in exciting outdoor activities such as abseiling, enjoy a day out at an adventure park and enjoy learning about their place in the family of God. We have quite a few new young people at both Breakfast Club and our youth group and we really want them to benefit from this week away. Our older teen young leaders will be helping run activities as well as taking on roles in running the week.
Last year one of our older teens wrote a moving piece about what time away from Hull meant, being part of a nurturing Christian community and we want young people to once more benefit from this.
Here is where you can help.
Every year our faithful supporters make a contribution to pay for a young person to go to camp and once again you can help make this happen.
The camp will incur extra costs this year however we don’t want to pass this onto local families but with support from you our supporters, family donations, trust funds and some money we have put aside we can make the camp happen.
We believe in a faithful God who sees us working to build his Kingdom here and share the good news of Jesus among a community that does not often get to hear about hope and also has to deal with numerous complex challenges related to poverty and inequality.
We are asking if supporters can once again help sponsor a child at £150. We normally ask for a contribution of £50 per young person from families meaning a balance of £100. Whatever you may be able to give it will ensure a young person from our community can come with us and benefit from this special experience.
You can donate now using the link to our website to contribute (please use reference 'camp appeal' or via bank transfer and cheque. Again details are on our website or 01482 221059 to arrange your donation.

Have you ever wondered what life is really like inside our prisons? Do you care about justice, dignity, and the humane treatment of others? The Independent Monitoring Boards (IMB) are looking for volunteers from all walks of life to help ensure that prisoners are treated fairly and given opportunities to change their lives.
IMB members visit prisons, speak with prisoners, observe conditions, and address issues such as healthcare and safety. No formal qualifications are required – just good judgement, empathy, and a commitment to justice. Training and expenses are provided. If you live within 45 minutes of a prison and can make two visits a month, you can help change lives.
